Simply Breakfast

Being my favorite meal of the day, I flipped when I found this blog. Not only are the images that she captures every morning beautiful, but the idea behind this simple morning routine is refreshing.

"These works represent my continuous journey to slow down and discover the beauty in everyday life. I am inspired by nature, design, form and color." - Jennifer Causey
I think we all should take a little bit of time at the start of our days to just think... be.... dream... and then be inspired by those thoughts for the rest of the day :)

The Knitting World

So I am having to be much more creative this Christmas when it comes to gifts, being that my financial situation is at an all time low - as I am sure everyones is. I find great serenity in knitting so scarfs have been the choice of gift for a couple people in my life. A big warm colorful scarf :) Especially being that is 20 degrees in Oklahoma right now.

In my search to learn more about knitting and the incredible people that can knit some unbelievable things... I found this :)
Her name is Nguyen.
"It happens in those fragile moments before sleep sinks in. Thoughts float around, merge together, move apart. With my light-up pen, I scribble a drawing of a power cord in my idea book and write “knit” next to it."

...too bad these are like 100$ on etsy.com -
Thats ok, it just inspires me to learn how to do it on my own, eh?

Take me to Venice please.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this issue of Teen Vogue to come out (Dec/Jan)! Because of this issue, I made my first friend in New York and got to deliver trunks full of these gorgeous clothes to the airport :) I think it turned out perfect - I MISS NEW YORK!

I Want you to Want Me.

Iwantyoutowantme.org

This is an interactive installation that blew my mind. I am not into online dating but the execution of this idea is so very whimsical and encouraging.

It is displayed on a high resolution touch screen hung vertically on the wall in the dark room. on screen is an interactive sky whose weather (sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, etc) can be controlled by the viewer. Through the sky floats hundreds of blue and pink balloons, each representing a single person; trapped inside each balloon is one of 500 video silhouettes! The balloons move through sky and the viewer can interact in tons of different ways...

Go to the website and watch the video!
Enjoy.

Halloween to the MAX!

Halloween...One of my favorite holidays - not because you get lots of candy, NOT because of the scary factor - that is probably one of my least favorite things in the whole wide world but because you get the opportunity to MAKE a costume :) wear whatever the heck you want to wear and noone can judge you! This was my costume last year - I think it confused people more than it did impress them but I had a blast making it so WHO CARES! It was a bitch to take out at the end of the night though.... that is about 3 spools of yellow yarn tied and braided into my hair....

Boo.

Goodbye To You.

I know this old news... but how sad is it that polaroids will soon be no longer... I mean really... instant photography is such a beautiful thing...

I came across "For the Love of Light" a couple weeks ago! It is a tribute to the Art of Polaroid! 25 photographers from all over the world are coming together to create a book - it comes out this summer and I am more than excited to see what they captured.

Au Revoir Polaroid!

Beautiful Tiny Things.

Sophie Cuvelier is a French artist who makes these beautiful Garlands from hand-dyed paper! To me, they look like the product of a 10 year old gone mad with construction paper and string! I'm tempted to bust out the craft scissors and create my own rendition!

Anna Fredriksson.

I went to H&M today and fell in love with a graphic tee! It is apart of collaboration called "ART BY:" that supports up -n- coming creative talents! Of coarse I love to show support when I can but how could I NOT get this...

I tottered between Graphic Design and Illustration - I am super happy with the decision that I made BUT I will always hold illustration near and dear to my heart!!!

Here are a couple of my pieces that I did not too long ago...

An Addition to my Family.

So being the obsessed lomographer that I have become over the past couple months, I decided it was time to bump things up a knotch. My world has changed... drumroll.... I now own a bright red Holga 120CFN. It is almost completely made of plastic, has a built in flash with variable colour gels, and two shutter speeds. Not bad for plastic. What I like most is that it has two image modes. My favorite is the 6x6 because... 1. I love the larger size and 2. when do you ever see a square photograph - they are always the typical 4x6 rectangle! I think there is something about a square image that makes it unique and interesting, unconventional and attractive... I could ooo and gooo for hours so i'll stop while I am ahead!

These are some shots from other Holga Lovers :) I am still on my first roll so hopefully I will have some as equally as superb as these....

The Blues, man...

I am taking an online class over America's ethnic music and I adore it. I am on 'The Blues' chapter and am just eating it up. They had so much spirit and life. Great clothes too...

Watch this video and smile :)

You need Lomo in your Life you HOMO.

So... Lomography! What is it you ask? Well... it is the most interactiv, vivid, blurred and crazy face of photography worldwide. PICTURES: That is what Lomography is all about. Nothing compares to the feeling of visually diving into a pool of shining, new, sweet-smelling lomographs. My pictures, your pictures, pictures of the world, pictures of fleeting moments, secret passions, boring brou-ha, left toes, blurred nothings. Simply everything. Lomography collects, treasures and presents all of this.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being the avid picture lover that I am, this website opened up another world for me, a new hobby! I now have two lomo cameras and am planning on purchasing the Diana+ It takes 120 film, which have never worked with before, but I think it will help me to be a bit more bold when it comes to working with new mediums.

I am a member so you can see the images that I have posted (the ones that actually turned out and I like... It's a crazy cool website - have fun!)

One Dutchtub please?!

Pinch me, I have found my new dream gadget! This wood-burning hot tub that looks like the bottom half of a pig is spectacular! It was designed by the Dutch, produced in Holland, and it's philosophy is to promote a new bathing culture - "Boundless Bathing" It's light weight-all you need is water, wood, matches, food if you want to cook over your fire, a cheeky place to set up and friends :)
I WILL HAVE ONE some day, a turquoise one! Just you wait and see....

Green Bike Box.

Somebody give Portland a big fat hug for introducing these crazy bright green bike boxes. I love this. I needed these today when I was on my way to the beach. I rode from my house to Playland in Rye, NY and serisouly almost died. It was absolutely beautiful and warm today so I thought a bike ride, the beach, and some journaling would be perfect.

My Dream Destination

My two good friends, Sarah and Kashion, are in the Czech Republic this semester and have been going on tons of little weekend trips. The recently went to Italy and discovered an amazing town on the coast. It is called Cinque Terra and I have fallen in love with it. LOOK and be AMAZED :)

This is their photo sharing address if you want to see more!
